Ryan Schude is a Los Angeles based photographer whose photographic career was born in the closet of his business school, which had been modified into a darkroom for the institution’s photoclub. It was here that he learned the basics about photography, developing his first photos for the school’s newspaper. As economics didn’t seem to be a fun career path, Schude visited San Francisco Art Institue after graduating from business school. In our interview he reveals how his parent’s attitude played a large part in choosing a new direction, explaining how “there was always a sort of unspoken irreverence for the way life ought to be lived which, for better or worse, has encouraged doing whatever it was that you wanted to do.” Today Schude works for renown companies including Delta Airlines, Kellogg’s, McDonald’s, Sony, Toshiba, Volkswagen, Time Magazine.
