Having graduated with a BA Honours Design in Surface Pattern, Northampton based artist Jamie Poole primarily works as a landscape painter and art teacher, while exhibiting around the UK. One of his most incredible work is a large scale portrait of Agnes Wahl Nieman – a hybrid of typography and collage, created for a magazine cover of the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University. With painstaking precision he cut out words into paper strips from pages of the Nieman Report’s and from the foundation’s archives (left picture) and glued them onto a canvas to form a portrait of her. Poole’s self portrait is based on a similar idea, using shredded poems and love letters written by his fiance (right picture). For more information check www.jamie-poole.com.
