Influenced by his early childhood in Argentinia, Zurich based designer Alfredo Häberli creates expressive and outstanding interior spaces, catching one’s attention from the very first moment of encounter. Uniting tradition with innovation his design for the Camper store in San Sebastián reflects much of the location’s seaside landscape. Layers of abstract terraces and the electric blue of the ocean project the beach and promenade of La Concha. Even from a great distance passers-by are attracted by the pattern of dots on the glass and the oversized Camper logo, building a strong contrast to the white fishes hanging from the ceiling. Placed on top of the abstract terraces, the Camper shoes almost appear like coral, algae or exotic shellfish swimming in a large aquarium. Having won numerous awards for his works, including “Designer of the Year” by A&W magazine (Architektur & Wohnen) in 2009, Alfredo Häberli has also received the prestigious Swiss Grand Prix of Design from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture in 2014.
